The Christian Family
The family was created by God as the means by which Man would subdue the earth to His glory. The family is a child’s first school, church and state and what he learns there, will profoundly affect him for the rest of his life.
Therefore, it is no surprise that the Adversary has made the family his first target ever since the Garden. If he manages to destroy the family, every other aspect of society will fall to him as well.
In the modern world, especially since the fragmentation of society that began during the Industrial Revolution, the Christian family has bee staggered by blow after blow. Humanism, feminism, abortion, illegitimacy, adultery, sodomy and fornication are all, in one way or another, an attempt to destroy the family.
For Christians to be faithful disciples of Jesus Christ, we must rediscover what God wants from our families, and what He expects each of us to do to preserve and maintain it. Often, His principles are directly opposed to the values and practices of contemporary American culture. It will cost us something to live Biblically today. However, God will not be mocked; those who foolishly reject His wisdom about the family are doomed to social and cultural extinction. Right now, birthrates are falling in every Western nation because men hate the family.
But it is not just about having large families, it is about building godly families where husbands self-sacrificially love their wives and children, where wives respect their husbands and children are instructed and trained to obey King Jesus. Sadly, the world never stops trying to squeeze the Christian family into its mold. It takes constant diligence, humility and God’s grace to protect, nourish and assist the Christian family in fulfilling its duties before God, and providing the peace, joy and satisfaction that He promises.
Since at Highlands we love the family, we talk about this a lot. Check back to this page frequently because we will be adding new material all the time.
